                                             Pilot Careers

With 46 years in aviation, including stints in the air force and bush flying in Papua New Guinea, I have a wealth of knowledge on what is involved with a successful aviation career.

There are so many career paths, and navigating through it sometimes feels like walking through a minefield. On top of that, most pathways involve spending a lot of money with no guarantee of a job at the end of it all.

Check out my blog post on this subject here.

I'm happy to help to make your decisions easier. Please make contact here if you wish to discuss your aviation career with me.

      Contact Us                                                                 Mentoring

This site is here to fill a need for young pilots to get mentoring. In Australia and New Zealand, there's nothing much organised for this, but it's something that can really help. Experienced pilots will remember how they had no idea about the best path to follow. Advice would have been very helpful. The lucky ones who had a mentor will remember how helpful it was. Mentoring someone into a successful career can be very rewarding.

What I would like to see is mentors and mentees signing up through the contact page here. I will then match up mentors and mentees as much as I can in geographical areas. Of course, most of this can be done online rather than in person but sometimes it would be good to have a face-to-face catchup.

Mentees should include a few paragraphs on why they think a mentor would help them. Ideally, mentees would already have at least 100 hours flying and a couple of CPL subjects under their belt. Please include details of this and where you are doing your flying training. Once mentees have been accepted for the program, they will need to pay a small admin fee of AUD$29.95 here. This will include a free Epub download of my recent book 'Kiwis Can Fly' which you can view under the 'Books' Tab.

Ideally, mentors should have a few years employed as pilots in industry jobs or airlines.

Other than that, the mentoring will be voluntary and free except for coffee and beer when meeting face-to-face.

Download the PDF here for Mentor's Guidelines and here for Mentee's Guidelines.

You can join the Mentor Program Facebook Group here.

See below if you feel you could benefit from a one-on-one video discussion with me.
